He should’ve figured the conversation would take this turn. Lifting his hand to pick her chin up so she was looking at him, Ciel shook his head slightly.
Your timing is not always the greatest, I’ll admit that. But it would look badly of me if I were to turn my fiancee away no matter what the occasion and I don’t believe I’d have the heart to do it regardless.
Oh, that devil-of-a-boy knew just how to act around poor Lizzie without even realizing it, smoothing her ruffled feathers with false comfort. Her lower lip puckered out but she continued insistently.
“I’m sure if you were truly angry, you’d have no trouble leaving me out on the streets. There must’ve been some time when you wanted to— your brow furrows ever so deeply whenever I’m around, you see. You think I don’t notice, but I do!”

It was a rather rash accusation for her to say of him. Yes he’s lost his temper around her sometimes, but that was only in times of extreme actions, such as the time she broke his family ring. But even then he was immediately snapped out of it seeing her cry and having Sebastian stop him, and of course he’d been quick to calm the blonde’s crying. But to hear her believe he’d legitimately throw her out of the manor no matter what the circumstances were? That was a slight slap to the face for him. Needless to say, his face gave way easily to surprise, and his hold on her chin didn’t rescind.
Elizabeth, you’re still my fiancee regardless of the situation. I still care about you, but I would never force you out of my presence.
